    ONTARIO NURSING INFORMATICS GROUP

About Us

ONIG (Ontario Nursing Informatics Group) provides members with opportunity to connect, share, and network with others interested in health informatics and eHealth. As an emerging field within healthcare, ONIG provides a range of education events across Ontario on a variety of topics related to technology, leadership, and healthcare.

To do this, we typically provide online and virtual access to our education events via Ontario Telemedicine Network (to hospital centres) and also via their web-conferencing access.  Each year, ONIG hosts roughly three to five events, ranging in topics and purposes (e.g., education events, vendor fairs, strategic planning sessions).

ONIG was formed in 1980 and achieved RNAO status as an affiliate group in 1991. ONIG's purpose is to provide a forum for nursing and other professionals to communicate and disseminate current developments in health informatics and eHealth.

Mission

ONIG’s mission is to build a supportive community of informaticians within Ontario through initiatives that promote education, research and practice.

Vision

Nursing and health informatics are recognized specialties within the profession of nursing. ONIG promotes the awareness and value of Nursing's contribution to quality health care through health data, information and knowledge management enabled by the use of technology.
